After being quarantined in our home since February we had some friends from back home in St. Louis come to visit and we spent the weekend sharing some of our most loved places in Door County with them. Although, they’ve also been quarantined we all practiced social distancing and were impressed with all that the local business owners and restaurants are doing to keep everyone.
Before our friends Shaun & Charity arrived, we took some time to go walk the canal and play in the sand and check out the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Light Tower & North Pierhead Light, something we hadn’t done yet. What a beautiful place wouldn’t you say? Do you enjoy sightseeing Lighthouses, like we do?

We took the evening easy and walked around Fish Creek, checking out shops and enjoyed catching up with each other before enjoying a delicious White fish meal at the White Gull Inn, our absolute favorite place to sit back, have drinks, and listen to the flames roar as the water boils over! We had the most amazing meal of white fish, potatoes, delicious breads, and finished off with Door County’s traditional cherry pie! Every dinning experience we’ve had with the White Gull Inn has been incredible and an absolute must while you’re in Fish Creek, Wisconsin.
On our second day we showed Shaun & Charity the goats on the roof at Al Johnson’s and all the cute shops in Sister Bay. We stopped for a while and enjoyed some late morning Piña Colada’s at The Garage and splashed around a bit in the bay. Stopped at Koepsel’s Farm Market to grab some medium cherry salsa (this is the best cherry salsa), smoked whitefish & salmon, sausage, and cheeses and ventured on to Anclam Park for a picnic with lakeside views.
After a little shopping we took to the bluffs on the opposite side of the peninsula at Cave Point and watched people cliff jump, strolled through the woods, enjoyed all the fresh air, and the unique shoreline.
We then meandered down the road to share one of our favorite secret beaches where we played for a little while. Until Cole began getting just a little too sandy.
As the evening grew nearer, we headed to the Wave Pointe Marina & Resort to share a sunset sail with our friends aboard Captain Bill Wons sailboat. We enjoyed sipping Island Orchard Cider’s best selection (in our opinion of course), the Pear Cider and laid back, relaxed, and took in the incredible views Lake Michigan & Door County has to offer as the sun set. Then retired to our hotel for some much needed slumber at the Pine Grove Resort.
