After spending the first half of the day chasing waterfalls, we set off in hopes to view the highest point of the Porkies at Summit Peak. We didn’t spend very long there before we were off in search of good food and then Troy suggested finding a beach to watch the sunset enjoying each others company while the tide came in for the evening.
The boys chased each other around splashing in the cold Lake Superior water and snuggled up on the perfect log for a family of three to watch the sun hit the horizon. Walking back to the car we caught an eerie glimpse of the moon just above the trees and this abandoned motel. We waited to see if any werewolves showed up, no such luck.
We headed back to our hotel for the night and spotted five bears hanging out, each taking turns at a dinner pile. This was Cole’s and I first time seeing wild bears, so that was pretty exciting. Glad we could watch from behind glass though. 85% of Michigan’s bear population is in the Upper Peninsula and range from 200-400lbs, these guys were easily well over that.
