Summer has a funny way of passing by at a fleeting pace. If you don’t run away for the weekend as often as possible, it’s gone in a hot minute. This year, it took a bit longer to warm up. We love a long spring but were excited when summer arrived. Once summer arrived, we took advantage. We drove up to the Upper Peninsula to Lake Superior. We absolutely love the lower shoreline of Lake Superior.
During our family vacation to Grand Marais. We enjoyed escaping from cell service and ran around on the beach for most of the trip. We swam along the lake bottom and searched for agates and yooperlites. Enjoyed each other’s company snuggling and playing in the soft sand under the driftwood cabana we found. Isn’t it incredible? If you have not had the opportunity to view Day One of our trip, you can read about our time and view the photographs in the previous article.
Day Two started with a simple breakfast of buttered toast & oatmeal at our cabin. Then we headed to the beach for a few hours. We enjoyed the warmth of the sun while we swam, then cooled off under the cabana while playing in the sand. The gentlemen crafted our annual summer trip “Helgeson,” sign in the sand. This year they made it extra fancy by utilizing rocks. Troy took some much-needed Motherhood photographs of my sweet boy and I. Playing together, cuddling, and enjoying ourselves doing our favorite thing together. It’s the mundane moments in life that are absolutely magical and ones I’ll treasure forever.
We took our chances in the Sunflower Maze in Garden, Michigan
After several hours of exploring every inch of the beach, rocks, and driftwood piles. We headed back home, but not before taking our chances in the Sunflower Maze in Garden, Michigan for the second year in a row. It’s the perfect mid-way stop that gets us out of the car for about an hour to explore the maze, play in the tractor, and play with the large velcro dart target before heading back home.
