In the Upper East Side of Milwaukee lies the historic Lake Park surrounded by exquisite homes and old-world charm. Last month we traveled to Milwaukee for Finn’s Newborn Session in Wauwautosa. Something to know about me is if there is an opportunity to turn something into a homeschool unit, I will.
While we photographed a few family photos at North Point Lighthouse we were lucky enough to meet a gentleman who was working on the lighthouse grounds. He shared some history on the North Point Lighthouse and how during the early 1900s and already more than 50 years of use, the iron light tower was raised. A steel tower was placed underneath to raise it an additional height above the now-growing trees in Lake Park that were blocking its view from Lake Michigan. This new information intrigued us and it turned into reading all the signs around the site. Then taking our curiosity home with us to learn more about this piece of history.
We create our own mini units for ourselves based on our random deep-dive interests. However, I found these Lighthouse Homeschool Mini Units and thought we’d share them with you.

Our Stroll Through Lake Park and Over the Lion Head Bridges
During our time at Lake Park, we strolled along the walking path and over the lion head bridges. Enjoyed the mid-1800 to 1900 architecture. Then had my Dad document a few family photos at North Point Lighthouse for us. It’s such a beautiful piece of history, don’t you agree?
