What started out as a ride to a party with a friend on St. Patrick’s Day 6 years ago ended up being the night Alex & Tom met thru their mutual friend Emilie. After not seeing each other for two months and later reconnecting at a friends house they clicked right away. After one month of official dating Tom took a chance on Alex and moved out to New Mexico with her and they have been smitten ever since.
Tom and Alex are the coolest people ever and honestly I fell in love with them from the first email. Alex painted a good image of who they are. Living in New Mexico, where they love to adventure and do crazy awesome things like cliff jumping and hiking the trails in the Sandia Mountains. On weekends they enjoy drinking craft beer while listening to vinyl records. Other times you can find them thrifting at flea markets and second hand stores to decorate their home when they’re not in it playing with their rescued Chihuahua mixes, Disco Boogie and Groove.
They love the weather in New Mexico and I suppose the Southwest flair since they decided to bring the Fiesta back to Wisconsin to share their Wedding Day with their families.
Emilie who introduced the two became ordained for the wedding and married the couple on the edge of the river filled with lily pads in front of a hand made arbor adorned with florals by delicate and talented hands. Alex’s dream florals came to life when Maid of Honor Hanna Mott designed her bouquets and spread her talents across the venue.
The venue which was a friend of the family’s farm is surreal, featuring a turn of the century victorian farm home, peacocks and guinea fowl roaming free, a grand weeping willow complete with a rope swing, assorted barns and sheds one more cuter than the next, and a greenhouse. When I asked Alex how she imagined her wedding day she said, “I really just want the day to be laid back and relaxed. I want everyone to have a good time.”
The day started out with a tour around the farm, oohing and ahhing over the chandelier in the barn and taking in the incredible venue. While Alex & her bridesmaids got ready in the farm home they cracked open some champagne, helped her into her dress, and bustled her train. When time came to button her up and attach her veil she shared a few hugs with friends and her brother before heading out to the ceremony. She was escorted by her Mother & Father and it couldn’t have been more sweet as they all had happy tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces. Tom had a simple smile and tears in his eyes when he saw her come through the pine tree line, you could see how much she meant to him. You could see he felt like the luckiest man alive. From there, I leave you to see for yourself how perfect of a day Alex & Tom’s fiesta wedding at a friends farm really was.
